While they’re 635km apart, CHRG and its venues continue to support their adopted club, Walgett RSL, through tough times brought about by COVID-19. This comes some two years after the ‘Adopt a Club’ campaign launched in 2018 to support the local farming and business community within the drought-affected town of Walgett in central NSW. Our commitment to this campaign resulted in a donation of over $14,000 worth of Walgett IGA vouchers going to local farming families – the vouchers ensuring that every dollar spent within town, circulated 3-5 times over, with the multiplier benefiting the entire community.
Today, the rural area remains drought stricken and the impact of the compulsory COVID-19 shutdown period has had a further impact on the Club and community. So, following the opening the new Club Parramatta, CHRG sought to donate $20,000 worth of excess club furniture to Walgett RSL – continuing to provide assistance during such uncertain times.
Walgett RSL received so much furniture from CHRG, that they were able to pay it forward and donate some of it to two other ‘local’ clubs located 100km away – the ‘Collarenebri Club’ and the ‘Club in Scrub’. CHRG is pleased to see that the furniture donation stretched far and wide, and within communities that really need the help.
YOUR local, supporting THEIR local.
